1. Rory Allen vs Samba (Samba sixes 6s competition 2002)
This was the first ever recorded c-team goal in any competition and was the real
turning point in the fortunes of the C team. Many critics doubted that the C team would ever manage to score but Rorz proved
them all wrong with this wonder strike against probably the as of then, undeafeated, unscored against Samba team.
It all started with a wonderfully disguised throw from wiggin which sent the samba
defenders haywire, phil shimmied down the wing and brotherly intuition sent the ball to the feet of Jim, a spooned shot come
cross seemed to have ended the attack but up stepped Rorz at the back post and neatly side-footed the ball passed the outstretched
hands of Mr Preece. The crowds went wild and every player wanted to congratulate the other, there was hugs and kisses
and even a tooth injury for Rorz but it didnt matter- the C had broken the goal drought.
2. Ben Wood v Vincitori (Samba sixes 6s competition 2002)
Pumping on adrenaline from their last game against Samba, there was now a belief
that the C team could pull out a victory in this, the final match of the competition. The C team looked superb, nobody
there thought the c team would score even one, so why not get two? A pacey run down the wing from Rorz produced a low cross
into the box, but a touch from a defender wasnt enough to stop the ball reaching the feet of out-and-out striker Ben who fired
the ball home for the second ever c team goal
3. Rory Allen v New College (September 2003)
Confidence was high within the team for this, the first game of the new season
(and new outlook) for the C especially under the new manangement of Mr Plant.
After conceeding an early goal it seeemed that this match was heading the way of
oh so many before it, but fate suggested something new on the horizon. A swift curling corner from James Pirie seemed
to have scaled the head of every C team attacker but as it dropped towards the back post it was Rorz, having skipped past
his marker who met the ball and fired it into the back of the net with his head. The C team had scored.
4. James Berry v New College (Setember 2003)
Something seemed different within the C team, there was a whole new outlook following
our goal and nothing could stop us from getting another. An awful goal kick from the New College keeper landed
right at the feet of James Berry just inside the New College half. Jim looked up and took a few steps with the ball
close to his feet, some say that he saw his chance with the keeper off his line, others say he was looking for the perfect pass
but nonetheless when that ball left the foot of Jim and began to soar the mouths of the C team began to drop.
The ball hung for what seemed like days as it was lofted over the New College defence and finally came to rest in the back
of the net, the keeper nowhere to be seen. The C team were in the lead for the first time in history.
5. James Berry v New College (September 2003)
The C teams hopes of a first victory had been dented follwing an unfortunate equaliser
by New College, but something had blessed the players that day, the C team were on a whole new level and this day will live
forever more in the memories of those that witnessed it and in myths and legends in the centuries to come. A poor headed
clearance from new college found its way to that long range marksman Jim Berry once more on the outside of the box.
There were no doubts about his intentions this time, a beautifully struck shot curled towards the left hand corner of New's
goal, slapped the post and hit the back of the net once more, giving C the 3-2 lead and securing the most memorable football
victory ever.
5. Mickey Broome v Samba (5-a-side week 1)
New C team signing Mickey B had the privelige of secuirng the C's first ever goal
in 5-a-side competition. A disappointing and unorganised first half saw the C go down by 4 goals but a much improved
second saw the C hold off the competition completely. This sterling performance was rounded of by a super strike from
Mickey that smashed into the top left corner beating one of the greatest 5-a-side goalkeepers ever seen, and rounded
off a respectable debut for the C.
6. Dan Redman v New College (15 October 2003)
After a bright start to the second
half in this match it seemed only a matter of time before the C team took the lead and it was a tried and tested formula that
worked once more. C team pressure resulted in a James Pirie corner from. Another beauty was whipped in and who should crop up at the back post with a fierce
header but Hef. A similar chance had gone begging for him earlier but there was
no mistake this time as he belted the ball home giving the C the vital lead they had been striving for
7. Ben Wood
v New College (October 15 2003)
The C werent content with just
one goal in this game and it wasnt long before they put the game beyond New College.
A free kick from Broome just inside his own half spotted a swift break from Ben Wood.
The through ball was inch perfect and what happened next is...open to some debate.
Some say after his successful rounding of the keeper Ben lost control and the ball drifted into the path of a New College
centre back who was happy to fire home into his own net. The more widespread
belief is that Ben whipped round the keeper and slotted home with a fierce shot grabbing his first goal of the season
8. Mickey Broome
v The Sleaze Team (5-a-side week 2)
In only their second game of the
5-a-side season the C team faced some hefty opposition in the form of The Sleaze Team.
What was becoming an embarrassing goalless defeat for C was revived when Mickey B came up trumps once again and fired
home a right-footed shot. His second goal in the competition and restoring some
pride in the hearts of the C
9. Mickey Broome
v The Sleaze Team (5-a-side week 2)
As if one goal wasnt enough for Mickey he cropped up once again in this match and blasted
a second into the top corner. The C have been really proud of the way Mickey
has immediately adjusted into the boots of a C team player and really looks the part when hes in the red and whites, maybe
soon his goals will be enough to bring the C victory in 5-a-side, watch this space...
10.
Michael Cotter v Hagley School (November 5 2003)
Following his desperately awful miss in
the last game Mike Cotter wanted to make amends against Hagley and fifteen minutes into the second half he was given his chance. And then another. And then another. Finally on his fourth attempt from point blank
range he scuffed a shot nearer to the goal line, it wasnt until the rest of the team ran up behind and pushed him into the
net that the ref finally gave the goal, thanks to the rest of the team Cotter managed to get on the score sheet, well done
Cotter you danced the night away on the goal line.
11. Asha D v Hagley School
(November 5 2003)
A fantastically determined effort from the C team seemed as though
it would not be paid off, despite countless efforts and some superb play it seemed that the C just wouldnt be able to get
this one back to 2 all. The ref had given the 2 minutes left mark and both sides
knew it was a matter of seconds before the final whistle. Pressure from the left
with Rorz resulted in a throw-in deep in the Hagley half. It seemed that every
C player was dashing into the box, but Rorz just didnt know who to aim for, he had to make this one count. Wig gave him the nod and it seemed the best option, but out of the corner of his eye Rorz saw Asha D making
some room and threw the ball to him in the box. A great bit of control from ash
swept the ball away from the defence and he saw his chance, he belted a right-footed shot from just inside the area and as
soon as it left his foot the outcome was inevitable. The ball buried itself in
the corner of the net, the C had levelled it in the last seconds, the scenes were incredible, there was both ecstasy and heart
ache but before anymore football could take place the ref blew the whistle. A
determined effort from everyone had all been worth it, the emotion was clear to C we may have drawn but it didnt matter, the
feeling was incredible.
